Manzushir Monastery
Manzushir monastery was built in 1733 in the beautiful zone of Bogd Khaan Mountain. There were more than 20 temples and 300 resident monks. But in 1930s the monastery was completely destroyed and the monks were killed by the communists. The remain of the monastery became a natural museum which displays interesting exhibits introducing the flora and fauna of the surrounding area. Above the monasteries are three main shrines in the rock face. In them are fine rock carvings of various Buddhist deities, some of which are painted.
