Itinerary
Day 1 | Ulaanbaatar
Upon your arrival, you will be met with your guide at the airport. City tour starts with visiting Fine art museum which will give you an exotic feeling about exclusive work of art made by Saint Zanabazar and other artists and visit National history museum that introduces an exciting and brief history of Mongolia. Day 2 | Amarbayasgalant Monastery
Today we will drive to Amarbayasgalant Monastery which was built in 1727 in memory of Saint Zanabazar. It will take about 6-7 hours to get there. Breathing the fresh air and enjoying the beauty of the nature will give an exotic feeling. (B, L, D)
Day 3 | Uran Togoo volcano
Travel to Uran Togoo National Park, a spectacular area of extinct volcanoes covered in coniferous woods. Hiking excursion around Uran Togoo Mountains. Red deer, Argali, and Siberian Ibex are found in this area. (B, L, D)
Day 4 | Crossing the Khangai Mountain and visit nomad family
Today we will drive through beautiful Khangai Mountain and enjoy the fascinating view of meadows, forest and vast plain on the way to reach Murun, the capital of Khuvsgul province. Spend the unforgettable day with visiting the nomad family and get familiar with their hospitality and friendliness. We will stay in tent by the river Delgermurun near Murun city. (B, L, D)
Day 5 | Inspiring Khuvsgul Lake
Drive by 4x4 vehicle to Lake Khuvsgul, situated in a pristine alpine setting of forests, mountains and meadows. Spend the night in a Mongol ger - the traditional, felt-covered dwelling that will provide you with an authentic and memorable taste of Mongolian culture. (B, L, D)
Day 6 | Excursion in Lake Khuvsgul
Spend the day exploring Lake Khuvsgul, one of the largest and deepest lakes in the world - with 2% of the world's freshwater resources - situated amongst breathtaking alpine scenery. Enjoy a variety of activities, ranging from hiking and horseback riding to ice fishing and a visit to a family of nomadic reindeer herders. (B, L, D)
Day 7 | Relaxing in Jargalant hot spring
Head north to the Jargalant hot springs, crossing deep river basins and beautiful mountain passes, and visit nomad families along the way. (B, L, D)
Day 8 | Wild life observation in Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake
We will continue our road to the Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake, situated 2200 metres above sea level, which reaches a depth of 200 metres. Enjoy excellent opportunities during the rest of the day for bird-watching, hiking, horseback riding or fishing. (B, L, D)
Day 9 | Hiking excursion in Khorgo volcano
Today we will have a wonderful trek to the extinct volcanic crater Khorgo which is 2300m above the sea level. Khorgo is the youngest volcano that erupted about 9000 years and its crater is 100m deep and has a radius of 300-400m and the slope of 50 degree. Hike up to the summit of the volcanic crater for a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape, before settling at the ger camp on the nearby lake. (B, L, D)
Day 10 | Travel to Tsenkher Hot Spa
Travel to the south-east through beautiful forested valleys and meadows, stopping by at exceptional spots such as the magnificent Chuluut River Gorge. Along the way visit the museum in Tsetserleg, located in the former Zaya Gegeen Monastery, and examine the fascinating displays of authentic ethnographic and religious objects. Cross the long wooden bridge leading to the Tsenkher Hot Springs, where you can take a bath in Hot Spa. (B, L, D)
Day 11 | Cultural exploration in Erdene Zuu Monastery
Visit Erdene Zuu Buddhist Monastery, established on the ruins of Karakorum in 1586 by AbtaiSain Khan. At its peak Erdene Zuu was home to more than one thousand monks; today only a handful of the temples remain standing, but the vast extent of this religious complex, surrounded by a great wall linking together 108 stupas, gives a sense of its former importance. Continue through a fascinating landscape of high mountains, grassy steppe and sand dunes, towards the majestic Khogno Khan Mountain. (B, L, D)
Day 12 | Camel ride excursion in Khogno Khan Mountains
Early in the morning, start the trekking to the monastery which was built in 16th century and destroyed in 17th century. In the afternoon, we will visit camel breeding family for experiencing their lifestyle and ride camel for 1-2 hours around the sand dune. (B, L, D)
Day 13 | Traditional folk concert in Ulaanbaatar city
The off-road journey concludes with returning to Ulaanbaatar, with the remainder of the day free for rest or shopping. In the evening, enjoy a performance by traditional dancers and khuumii (throat) singers. (B, L, D)
Day 14 | International departure
Your journey will end with transferring to the airport for your departure. (B)
